Mining is the series of works to explore valuable materials in the earth to then be sold to fulfill the needs of energy or metals in the world. Mining is always good for economical development of a regent that has a mining inside. There are kinds of materials that can be explored then sold and give some advantages to the people. Parts of earth that has mining materials inside is always advantageous for people; that is why most of people surround the mining have profession as the miners. Every mining of minerals, oils or gases can be done in two kinds of way; through a mining factory or traditionally mining.
Traditionally mining is exploring mining materials that is usually done by people with traditional ways and tools. In the minerals traditional mining, people explore the minerals from the surface of the land. For the example is the mining of gold, silver and other minerals. In a traditional mining location such as often found in Borneo; there is a river that is contented of gold and other valuable minerals. As far as the river flowed; we can find sands with gold inside. Traditionally, people surround the river mine the gold with simple tools to separate the sands from the gold sands. But, the mining way also has disadvantage beside economical advantage for the people; it is about the bad impacts for the environment. The people use mercury to separate the gold from the sands. They waste the mercury to the river, so it will flow with the stream along the river. Because of the mercury cannot be neutralized, it stays forever in the river and harm the environment and human health; affect cancer and death.
Another traditional mining is oil mining in Borneo. There are many oil wells there as the remains of Dutch. It sums in thousands and still produces oil everyday. People there continue the mining traditionally. They clean the well and then lift up the water inside with traditional tools such as pipe, rope, small machine which is made from car engine. The long pipe is entered to the well till hundreds meters deep. Then the people pull it manually or using the traditional engine to make oil outs. The oils mixed with water and other materials collected into drums. Then the people warm it until the oil is separated and can be taken. The oil can produce some kinds of products such as asphalt, methane, gasoline and other valuable liquid.
Traditional mining is claimed illegal by the government, because beside it break the regulations it is also dangerous for the people. In another aspect, the illegal mining will break the stability of oil price and it could affect smuggling for the so illegal oil trading. Because of the reason, government must concern about this matter and handle the mining to be the legal one. In such solution, the people can be employed and get a better life than before. The rules must be run in such case.
